My hubby the wood worker

My talented hubby designed and built this beautiful table. I'm quite impressed by his craftmanship. :)

He also created this lovely poker table. Its a work of art.

Nature in the Concrete Jungle Part II

On Monday morning as I sat at my desk at work, I saw this large bird land on a building across the way. When i took a good look I realized it must be a falcon. So beautiful and majestic. I was lucky that it sat long enough for me to snap a couple of pictures.

Is it worth the walk?

Now I love food as much as anyone, but sometimes you have decide if the journey is worth the destination.

For example, Hero Burgers:

Tasty, yummy, quite lovely. Also awesome fries. But was it worth walking 1.4km (sure not so far) in this disgusting, humid, hot, muggy weather and to end up with a brutal blister on my right heel? I don't know. As usual, the food was tasty. But now it hurts to walk, and I dread having to wear my shoes home.

Currently I'm walking barefoot around the office. But not sure that I would be willing to do that on the sidewalk or the subway. The idea kind of creeps me out. No rewind, it totally DOES FREAK ME OUT. Gross.

A Perfect Moment

Sometimes when you least expect it, you can experience a perfect moment. It can go by in a flash, but the feeling of peace can stay with you for a long time.
Last week, while walking to the bus one morning, it happened. All at once everything seemed to converge on this moment. It was a beautiful day, sunny and blue skies. It suddenly became quiet, not a car on the road, nor the sound of people anywhere. Then I saw him, the heron, flying towards me. He was beautiful, graceful, long and lithe. His thin legs stretched out behind him, and he effortlessly beat his wings and glided by. As if there was no effort required to fly.
And in that moment, it fed my soul peace. Then he was gone, the only reminder that he had been there, was the feeling he left me with. The feeling of a perfect moment.
